Why Happy Together?

Happy Together, strange name for a boat, but this is our name. We are cruising south on our third boat named Happy Together.

Here is how we got the name. We are a blended family of 6 kids. Money was very tight, and Lesley worked at camps to pay for camping and to have money. One Saturday morning at Camp Young Judea, there was a song session. Gary was visiting camp. Lesley was the head of girls. Some of the younger girls were crying and having a bad day, missing their parent. While Lesley was comforting the girls, the song “Happy Together” by the Turtles came on. Gary was across the room, and we looked at each other. At the same time, we both said “This should be our song” We are very Happy Together, through good times and bad times.

\When we decided to buy our first boat, from a front yard on Craigslist, we both said we will name the boat “Happy Together”.

Our second boat was a trade-in from the first, and it continued the name. Our current boat, the Island Packet 44, had a lot of other names. She is a very stately boat, one who is built to handle tough weather. She is very comfortable, and like a very small apartment. But after much thought, she was also named “Happy Together”.
