Oyster Bay to New York City
We woke up early for a 4 hour sail to Hell Gate, where we were looking for slack current. New York City is such a beautiful site even from far away. We arrived in Hell Gate on time, and made the passage down the East River. We even got to get close to the Statue of Liberty.
We were lucky to have secured a mooring at the Sheapshead Bay Yacht Club. This meant travelling to Sheapshead Bay and passing the famous Coney Island.
Visiting Eric and Vera and Sheapshead Bay Yacht Club
Sheapshead Bay Yacht Club was wonderful. Very protected area, and very friendly members. To our surprise, nobody at the yacht club wore a mask. Being from Rhode Island, we really were not allowed in NY, but the guys from the yacht club welcomed us.
We met cousins Eric and Vera. We had wine in a park, and then ate at a great restaurant outside. Eric joins us for our next adventure- an overnight from Brooklyn to Cape May, NJ
