Preparing for a long trip

We bought our Island Packet in July 2019.   There were a couple major projects we had to do so we could sail Happy Together (HT) safely.   The first was there was a terrible smell of waste on the boat.  The other was the electronics were not operating at a reliable level.

First, the entire waste system need to be replaced.  As we found out the very hard way, the holding tank had disintegrated totally.      We replaced all the hoses in the waste system and the holding tank.  Which included having the sole of the boat cut and then beautifully replaced.  Gary was very brave and clean the entire bildge of very ugly waste.

The other major project was the Navigation system.   The navigation system on HT didn’t work, so we needed to replace the entire system.  We had the mast taken off, the rig inspected.   We had a new radar installed on the mast.  In the cockpit, we put in all Raymarine electronics, NEMA 2000 (for those marine electronics nerds).  This included the Multifunctional display, the wind, depth and speed indicators, and the autopilot.   We had the other equipment installed by a local installer and Gary installed the autopilot himself.  We also put in a B&G VHF Radio with AIS Transceiver.   Pictures are below.
